MASSAGE SERVICES

Sports Massage:
Zenergy's Sports Therapy practice focuses on relief and healing of chronic sports-related soft tissue injuries, such as tight and pulled hamstrings and groin muscles, achilles tendon injuries, shin splints, IT band syndrome, plantar fasciitis, swimmers shoulder, etc. Sports Massage is a combination of massage strokes and techniques combined with flexibility and active isolated stretching geared to increase an athletes performance capabilities. The specific combination of applications that are used in our Sports Therapy is determined by each clients specific anatomical and physiological needs. By determining our clients specific needs, regular Sports Massage provides clients with relief from common overuse injuries, increased strength, speed and flexibility, along with improving biomechanical efficiency and decreasing the potential for future injury. Muscle Release Technique®:
The Muscle Release Technique® is a unique injury therapy that combines compression, extension, movement, and breath to give the therapist a tool to provide, in many cases, relief from pain in one treatment. With the technique, scar tissue is broken up, the muscle is lengthened, muscle memory is restored and relief from pain starts immediately.
When there is an injury to the muscle, scar tissue is the result. Scar tissue will keep the muscle inflexible, thus the muscle length is shortened. After a period of time, the muscle memory is lost and the chance of re-injury is increased. Nerve impingement is almost always associated with this condition, resulting in pain. Cross fiber work and/or deep tissue massage will give the client temporary relief, but long-term healing requires something more.
With Muscle Release Technique®, the client is placed in particular positions so that the muscle begins to stretch in a very specific direction of plane. Then pressure is applied directly into the focal point of the affected tissue. The combination of a specific extension, precise pinpoint compression, and an exact plane of movement, while working with the breath, can produce an immediate release. The scar tissue is broken up and the muscle length is restored. I also have educational material that will show you specific stretching techniques to do at home. This lets you continue to improve on the release we achieve during a session, and accelerates long-term healing. For more information on the Muscle Release Technique, click here.
Zenergy Bodyworks has been trained in the Muscle Release Technique® by Michael Young, the developer of the technique. Currently Zenergy is the only practice in Utah certified in Muscle Release. To view Michael Young's referral list click here.
ADDITIONAL BODYWORK SERVICES

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS):
Active Isolated Stretching, "The Mattes Method" centers on physiological principles of specific muscle lengthening, increased circulation and oxygen to the tissues, lengthening of the superficial and deep fascia tissues. Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is one of the methods of stretching most used by today's athletes, massage therapists, personal/athletic trainers, and professionals. Active Isolated Stretching allows the body to repair itself and also to prepare for daily activity. The Active Isolated Stretching technique involves the method of holding each stretch for only two seconds. This method of stretching is also known to work with the body's natural physiological makeup to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of muscle joints and fascia. Zenergy is only one of two certified AIS certified therapists in Utah. To learn more about Active Isolated Stretching, click here.
Myofascial Release:
Myofascial Release is a highly specialized stretching technique used to treat clients with a variety of soft tissue problems. Each Myofascial Release technique contains the same components. The therapist finds the area of tightness. A light stretch is applied to the tight area. The therapist waits for the tissue to relax and then increases the stretch. The process is repeated until the area is fully relaxed. Then, the next area is stretched. Myofascial Release is used to equalize muscle tension throughout the body. Unequal muscle tension can compress nerves and muscles causing pain. Progress is measured by a decrease in the clients pain and by an improvement in overall posture.
