Active Isolated Stretching (AIS):
Active Isolated Stretching, "The Mattes Method" centers on physiological principles of specific muscle lengthening, increased circulation and oxygen to the tissues, lengthening of the superficial and deep fascia tissues. Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is one of the methods of stretching most used by today's professional athletes and personal/athletic trainers. AIS works with the body's natural physiological makeup to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of muscle joints and fascia. Jennifer Hanna is the only AIS certified therapist in Utah. Myofascial Release:
Myofascial Release is a highly specialized stretching technique used to treat clients with a variety of soft tissue problems. Each Myofascial Release technique contains the same components. The therapist finds the area of tightness. A light stretch is applied to the tight area. The therapist waits for the tissue to relax and then increases the stretch. The process is repeated until the area is fully relaxed. Then, the next area is stretched. Myofascial Release is used to equalize muscle tension throughout the body. Unequal muscle tension can compress nerves and muscles causing pain. Progress is measured by a decrease in the client’s pain and by an improvement in overall posture.
